▶ Your Answer : It is debatable whether caring for a pet is the best method for a child to learn sense of responsibility. Some people think caring for a pet is tough for a child and hard to learn responsibility. Although people have different ideas and opinions, I support to the idea that a child can learn responsibility by taking care of their pet. First, a child would learn about responsibilities of tasks and time management.
To begin with, a child with pet has their tasks for caring a pet, which makes them learn about responsibility of tasks. It is true that taking care of pet is not easy since a child have to feed, play with a pet and wash a pet routinely. By doing those tasks for a pet, children can learn responsibility. This is because they can realize how important it is for caring a pet. I will talk about my younger sister’s experience to illustrate this. My younger sister was so lazy and she used to delay her tasks such as homework. One day my father bought her a dog. Although she really liked the dog but she skipped feed to dog sometimes because of laziness. Someday the dog lost a weight and become a sick. My sister cried and realized her fault. After the experience, my young sister did chores for a dog regularly. Also, she could get responsibility of role for the dog. This example shows that caring a pet teach child about their responsibility.
Moreover, caring pet enables a child to chance to learn time-management. As I mentioned earlier, child with pet have to do for a pet. It made child put aside time for doing with a pet. A study was conducted by Tokyo University to determine whether raising pet could affect to child’s behavior. There were two groups monitors. One group consisted of children with pet and the other group did not have pet. After 3 month, the researcher found that former group children tend to organize their tasks well than latter group. It means former group children know how to spend their time productively. In the following interview, one of the former group child said that he had to spend time for caring his dog every day, which made him think about time management. Also, he said he made priority tasks every day to spend his time productively, This proves that having a pet render a chance to learn about time-management.
In a nutshell, taking caring for a pet teach children about responsibilities their task and time-management. In this sense, it is fair to say that caring for a pet is the best way to learn responsibility.
