정부는 에너지 보존을 위해 가격을 올려야한다? A/D |
It is often said that the government should raise the cost to preserve energy. Some people might agree this statement because they think rasing cost may be directly way to decrease the use of energy. However, in contrast to this view, I strongly believe that it is not is not good and effective way to raise costs in order to save energy. The rationale behind this is that many poor people suffer from the shortage of energy. Another reason is that television advertisement is much more effective way to intruduce people the importance of saving energy than raising enery costs. To start with, helping the lives of the poor who seldom have money to buy energy are more imperative. It is obvious when one ponder that lots of people are dying at this very monent owing to shortages of energy. Therefore, government should consider the poor's lives rather than makes their lives more tough. To be specific, according to the a shocking report conducted by the UNISEP in 2007, 26 percent of people in South Korea are still suffering the shortage of energy such as electricity because they do not have money to even buy daily necessities. This shows that the more the government raise energy costs, the harder their lives are. On top of that, TV advertisements are much more efficient for saving energy than raising energy costs. That is, emotional and visual public advertisements make people participate in saving energy campaign more willingly. On the other hand, raising energy costs have a negative impact on reducing the use of enery because most people feel it unpleasant. To take a personal example, a few days ago, I and my family saw saving energy campaigns on TV programs which celebrities participate in. In the TV programs, the figure and scene that they show visually are so understanding and outstanding that our family feel sympatic for saving energy and decide to be willing to participate in this campaign. If the government had only raised the costs, our family's unpleasant for the government would dramatically increased. To sum up, without any hesitation, I firmly believe that the government should not raise energy costs. This is not only because in this case, many poor people suffer the shortage of energy, but also because TV advertisements and programs are more effective. |
