The common feature of people who were successful is that they were a great reader. Presumably, it is because books contain knowledge of past, present and future, which might be necessary for people to be prepared for rapidly changing world. In this sense, I will give a book as a gift to children because they could accumulate knowledge for their future and gain instructions of life.
Reading a book is the best way for children to gain knowledge. Most of people assert that reading a book is essential on the information era. Bill Gates stated that he had read a number of books when he was a children and Ban Gi-moon, who is the chief of the UN , said he have read books about international laws since 15 years old. Also, Elvin Toffler, who wrote famous books such as Third Wave, mentioned that book is the best source of knowledge, and without books, humans could not be developed like current era. All of them say about importance of books as to source of knowledge. Interestingly, they are one of the most successful people in the world. Hence, a book could be a preferable gift for children.
Moreover, children could get a lot of teachings of life, especially, they could establish concrete dream. There are many people who succeeded after painstaking efforts and various difficulties. When children read books about them, they will naturally endeavor for their dreams regardless of their races, financial situations and so on. For example, a book about Barack Obama, who is the first African-American president, could be a superb guideline of life for children. The president could be successful after enduring race discriminations and long time of studying. His sadness, perseverance and sense of accomplishments are contained in the book. By reading the book, children will realize that success could not be done without efforts, but if they do it, they accomplish any dreams. Therefore, I will choose to give a book to children.
In conclusion, I will give a book to children since they could get much knowledge which is vital for success and gain teachings of life. As a matter of fact, it is really disappointing for me that children are reluctant to read books these days despite their benefits. |
