Most parents want their children to be ahead of others in academic skills. This caused school systems to pay more attention to teaching academic studies, excluding physical education class. In my opinion, however, physical education should be provided for students because it helps them healthier and relieve stress. In addition, it enables students to develop social skills.
More than anything else, students can improve their health from physical education. These days, many students are lack of time for exercising, because of too competitive social atmosphere which force them to spend most of their time on study. As a result, physical health of our children are being threatened, and this usually leads to serious illnesses. A recent study shows that the average height of teenagers have increased, but they have far more weak body. Some students even cannot run fast and their bones are easily broken when they fall. In this respect, schools have to introduce physical education into their policy and guarantee that students can exercise on a regular basis through that course.
Furthermore, working out is the most effective way to relieve stress. As many students of the day are under heavy pressure, they usually get distressed and exhausted while studying. Since exercise allows people to breathe more fresh air, they can feel refreshment and more relaxed. When I was in high school, I was stressed out preparing the university entrance exam. Everytime I felt exhausted, I played basketball with my friends. While shooting and dribbling the ball, I could relieve my stress and got refreshed after doing the exercise. Judging from my experience, it is better for schools to ensure physical education for students in order to make them feel relaxed.
Finally, students can develop deep relationship with their friends during physical activities. Every creature living on the Earth is cooperating each other, which strengthens the social relationship between them. Likewise, students can improve their friendship through team sports such as soccer, baseball, and basketball. For instance, When I was in junior high school, I could made many friends while playing soccer in the play ground. Since soccer requires all members to be unified to win, it enabled my friends and me to develop strong bonding. Until now, we are getting along well each other, and enjoying deep friendship. In this sense, physical education will surely help students to build up social relationship with their friends.
To sum up, I firmly believe that physical education is necessary in school. The rationale behind this is that it not only enhances the physical health of students, but also relieves their stress. Also, it is a great chance for students to make many friends. Some people might argue that students should concentrate on their studies to survive this competitive world. However, they have to remember the fact that there is nothing more important than health.
