In this era of rapid social and technological changes, leading to greater complexity of society, some people prefer to have others to make decisions for them because they believe others can look at the problem in a more objective perspective. Although I admit its advantage, after some reflection, it seems that it is reasonably better for people to make their decisions by themselves. The rationale behind my belief is that people can be motivated by their decisions. On top of that, people can make the best decisions for themselves.
To begin with, when people make decisions by themselves, they work even harder to achieve their goal. This is because people do not want others to think that their decisions were wrong. From my own personal experience, I chose a university to attend by myself. Even though my parents and career guidance teacher offered me different colleges and courses, I disregarded them since I wanted to make decisions for my own life. So, whenever I suffered from challenging learning course, I was able to overcome them because I did not want others to consider my decisions as inappropriate one. I tried my best to get good results in every exam to prove that my decision was the right one. As a result, I completed my course with one of the highest points in the class and named as the student of year at that year. In this respect, people do their best to ensure that their decision is right. They therefore should make decisions by themselves.
In addition, people make the best decisions for themselves since they know use their past experience and knowledge. In other words, when they combine their thoughts and experience, they can produce an ideal solution to their problem. To illustrate, I hesitated whether or not to invest my money in a cosmetic company. However, since I not only had an experience of unsuccessful investment in a cosmetic industry but also heard the news that the cosmetic industry was in a recession, I did not put any of my money in cosmetic business. Thanks to my previous experience and quick decision, I did not get any financial damage when the company’s new product failed to receive approval from FDA( The American Food and Drug Administration), which caused a severe financial damage to most of people who invested their money on conducting the research. As this incident reveals, people are always better to make decisions by themselves since they know what the best is for them.
In conclusion, although it may require a substantial deal of effort and time, it is always much more beneficial for people to draw decisions by themselves. This arguments becomes even more obvious when we consider the factors, such as people are motivated to work to prove that their decisions were correct, and also people make their best decisions by combining their past experience and knowledge. |
