University students should take many different subjects. |
The purpose of university education is to refine student's knowledge and skill about their major in order to minimize difficulties caused by lack of preparation when they step into a society, where profession of a certain subject is more preferred rather than wide, low-depth knowledge. Thus, university students should put all their effort to improve and refine their major so that they can adjust to society more easily. There are many benefits of having
First, it is easy for a student who took classes about his major to get a job more easily than a student who took classes about various classes. Let's say there are two students who just graduated from the same university and same major : accounting. One of them focused his study only in his major, while the other took many different classes such as Music History. And they applied on a same accounting job. Since the company want to have a man with depth-knowledged in accounting, there is much more chance that the one who concentrated his work on his major to get into the job than the other one.
Next reason is that taking different subjects gives students confusion about what they are doing. It seems reasonable taking various classes will help student to have wide experience. However, as time passes, many students will suffer for remaking their decision about their profession because they are not sure what subject they should major in after taking different kinds of classes. Bewildering at this time, when every day study can make a huge difference between students, will ultimately result the lack of competition.
For theses reasons, higher possibility of getting into a job and chance of confusion caused from taking multitude of classes, university students should invest all of their efforts to their major. Once students graduate from college and get a job, their profession will give much more help than the knowledge of non-major subjects. Consequently, they will realize that their dream may come faster than they thought. |
