Friends learn from each other, teach each other, and grow up together. I believe friends are the most importantpeople in one's life because they influence on a person's life very much. In this sense, I believe that to have friends who are different from me is better than those who are similar to me for the following reasons.
Frist of all, I'd love to learn many things that I haven't known before from friends. I strongly believe that friends can be tremendously good teachers for me to learn the things I have no knowledge. Especially I can ask friends right away if I have a question while I should make an appointment to meet a professor for a while.
Second, friends who have different interests would encourage me to know the field I haven't been interested in. For example, I had not been interested in Chinese. Oneday, one of my friends told me that she liked Chinese becuase it was spoken by so many people in the world. Then I just tried learning Chinese because of her recommandation. 2 years later, now I can communicate with Chinese very freely in Chinsese language. Like this, I think friends can be motivations to start something valuable.
Lastly, since there are many different people with different ideas I think having friends who are different from me is also a good way to learn how to communicate and cooperate with others. If I have only friends who are similar to me, I would be apt to work with people of similar characterastics. However, it's inevitable to meet people who are enormously different from me since there are various kinds of people in the world. In this sense, I think I can learn how to cope with people of different personalities by having friends different from me.
In conclusion, friends are so valuable and unchangable in my life. I'd love to learn things I haven't known, be encouraged to know new fields, and learn how to deal with various people in this society by having good and different friends. For these reasons, I think it's better to have friends who are different from me.
