▶ Your Answer : Some people might think that students are more influenced by their teachers. However, I believe that students are more influenced by their friends for the following two reasons. First of all, friends can understand students' mind better than teachers. In response to the increasing importance of the friends in school life, many expert opinions and research statistics reinforce the idea that friends can understand students easily. Experts says that friends can understand students' situations because students and their friends are in similar situations, such as going to school at designated time and staying with parents. Therefore, friends can catch how students feel exactly. For example, a student sometimes might have a trouble with parents. If the students explains his/her situation to a teacher, the teacher would give an advice from the parents' point of view, so it is likely that the student does not listen to what the teacher says. However, students would feel comfort when the student talk with his/her friends because the friends understand the situation of the student and give a sincere advice. Eventually, the student can make things go well with the advice. In this regard, friends can understand students' mind.
On top of that, students tend to think about their positions within a frame of a group. Understanding the daily environment of students is necessary to substantiate this view. When students are at school, they will see many different styles and behaviors that other students have. If students think that those things are cool, they tend to imitate others. For example, when a student brings a fancy backpack that is better than any products in the class, students will ask about it and want the same one, begging their parents to buy it. Likewise, students are likely to want same ones or better ones. This tendency comes from the desire to be more than average in their group. Therefore, students care more about what their friends do than what their teachers says. In this regard, students have tendency to think about themselves in a frame of a group. To sum up, I believe that students are more influenced by their friends. Consequently, the importance of my view cannot be underestimated for two reasons. |
