Opinions might be divided over whether it is best way for a child to learn responsibility when they care for a pet. People of various ages and from different walks of life may take diverse positions on the controversial issue. I side with the perspective that we cannot learn responsibility through caring for a pet for the following two reasons: looking after a pet will lead to spend money and responsibility are not taught through having a pet.
To begin with, looking after a pet will contribute to become short on cash later. When it comes to seeking money, every penny counts. A thrifty spending habit is indispensable in our life because little drops of water make the mighty ocean. In addition, many people nowadays want to financial stability. Opponents of my perspective claim that having a pet does not need much money. Advocates' claim might be reasonable enough on the surface. However, if we take a closer look at their contentions, the rationale for their assertions lacks logic in many ways. Moreover, my personal experience can definitely debunk their claims. When I was in high school, my brother and I had a pet. However, at that time, we are not making a money, so we cannot afford the budget of foods of the pet. We should have thought that carefully before we looked after the pet. Therefore, we took on the pet my friend. The same applies to most people like us.
Besides, having a pet does not lead to uplift their responsibility. People who had not responsibility can rather discard a pet. In addition, this will be great social problem in our society. In addition to my personal anecdote, many articles from different newspapers affirm my view points. For example, a few weeks ago, I read an op-ed piece that is related to the topic. It described the result of survey, which was conducted by Seoul National University social science researchers with more than 500 people as respondents who had a pet. The purpose of the survey was to understand the consensus view about the high ratio of discarded pets. Of the 500 people surveyed, over 80 percent answered that they had experience losing their pets or dislocating or discarding. This clearly proves that having a pet give us great risk of disorder.
As I mentioned above, based on the two examples, I can conclude that it is not an effective way for the childs to raise a pet in order to teach responsibility. |
