There might be some people who believe that it
is the best way for a child to care for pet to learn responsibility. However, I
personally disagree with the above idea for two subsequent reasons. Children
have difficulty in paying their attention to pet continuously and parents'
economic circumstance could make problem.
To begin with, children usually don't keep
staying in the house. This is because that they have to go to the school, so
their family would assume the pet. This could make their families stressful.
People nowadays are living a busy and hectic life, so they don't have enough
time to look after pet. Let me bring about personal story as an example. When I
was in high school, I have a pet named Mimi, but I had had to leave my house to
study for 10 hours. Because my father substituted me, he was so stressed out.
Finally, I should have separated from Mimi.
On top of that, children cannot help abandoning
their pet when families are under a short of cash at that time. Having a pet
needs a lot of money. What this means that children have to follow their
families decision because they do not make a living. According to recent survey
done by Korea University professor Kim, 80% of respondents said that they would
give up taking care of pet if they had a tight budget, although the decision
could be harmful to their children's responsible attitude. This clearly shows
that developing a child's responsibility through raising a pet is not the best
way.
In conclusion, having pets is less likely to
increase responsible attitude because of not only lacking of their time but
also economic circumstances. In this regard, I strongly believe that raising
pet to learn responsibility is not the best way for a child.
