The reading
passage introduced three possible causes of transient lunar phenomena, TLPs.
The professor in the lecture casts doubt on those following theories,
suggesting it’s not clear why TLP occurs.
First, the reading
passage states that clouds of lunar gas cause TLPs when gases are emitted to
the lunar atmosphere through craters. The professor contradicts this statement,
suggesting that there are so many craters, where lunar gases leak out from the
Moon’s surface, that it’s not surprising lunar gases are close to them. Plus,
in the Earth, it’s not possible to calculate how much gases are there.
Second, the
reading passage describes that clouds of dust floating on the lunar surface
create TLPs by reflecting light. The professor counters this theory in that the
amount of dust clouds is not enough to make their illuminations visible from
Earth. Additionally, not on the dust but on the hard surface walked Apolo
astronomer who put the first step on the Moon.
Third, the reading
passage claims that TLPs are caused by solar flares, bursts of radiation from
the Sun. The professor refutes this hypothesis with the fact that dates of
solar flares are not relevant to ones of TLPs.
