Some people think that cell phones give people liberty by contacting people at anytime. However, in my opinion mobile phone restrain people from freedom since people have to be in constant communication, and the noise of cell phone ringing in public area have become disturbing others. To begin with, people are obliged to get in tough with business partner and social responsibilities at all time. To survive in this world of endless competition, people ought to reach at anytime. In the case of doing business with co-workers, everyone is aware that singing a contract without constant communication is like a camel passing through the eye of a needle nowadays. One’s ability can be clouded by other’s abilities so in order to stand out, a person must show one’s strength clearly. For example, my uncle was a businessman and he was preparing contract with other company. To complete the contract he had to listen other company’s opinion or suggestion. That is, he could not get the cell phone off his hand and always checked the messages from the phone before he got to sleep. It is seeming like he was addicted to the phone. This shows that phone can often become a shackle. On top of that, people are irritated by noise in public areas. We have learned that manners should be shown under public places but nowadays there are ringing cell phones anywhere. There was a poll conducted by Transportation Institution of Korea with passengers as respondents. The purpose of the survey was to understand the consensus view about the disturbing manners when using transportation. The majority of respondents rank ring mobile phone over cutting in line. An overwhelming 65% had responded that they felt disturbed from ringing mobile phone since their sound were large enough to attract people’s attention. This survey proves that people have negative view of ringing cell phone in the public areas. To sum up, mobile phones force people to constant contact with others and ringing sound by mobile phone distracting people’s attention. In this regard, I think that rather than offering liberation, cell phones have restricted people’s lives these days. | |
