▶ Your Answer :
There are two
way of grading for each group members after a group project. Giving the same
score to all group members or giving different score that depends on one’s
contribution. Some people might say that it is fair for each group member to be
given the same grade. However, in my opinion, it is unfair for each group
member to be received the same score for two reasons, which I will explore in
the following essay.
To begin with,
there would be free riders in group members. There are always two types of
people like a hard worker and a free rider when doing group assignment. If all members
receive the same score, the student who gave the biggest contribution would not
feel good. The reason is that, the student would think that the free rider
should have been given the lowest score among the group members. For example, when
I was in high school, I had a group project in social class so the number of
information we had to find is unaccountable. I was a leader and the one who
assume the largest amount of research. When only three day left, one of the group
mates confessed that he did not do anything for the project. So I did it in
three days instead of him. But when I checked my score and his, we got the same
score because we were a group. But I was not feeling good even though I got
perfect score.
On top of that,
it does not help student to prepare for the real world. In reality, people who
do not do their part have to deal with the consequences. For this reason,
students have to realize that they must do their best at any time I will
explore my personal experience as an example. My father was a Korean soccer
player. Someday, father told me the difference between the player with hard
practicing and the player with less practicing. This is the real world that the
best player got the highest salaries and incompetent players got replace. I realized
that I have to study hard to get appropriate reward.
To sum up, free
rider can be existed in group members. Moreover, students will not be given
help for the real life. In this regard, I firmly believe that giving the same
score to all group members after group project is unfair.
