▶ Your Answer :
There is an argument over whether or not it is better not to
tell the truth. Some people believe that lying is always not good and people
must tell the truth in any case. My view, however, is that it needs to tell lie
sometimes and there are two reasons, which I will explore in the following
essay.
To begin with, there are many cases that it is better not to
know the truth because lying can be helpful to encourage someone who are in
despair. To be specific, there is a term called ‘White Lying’. It is commonly
used in hospitals and its effect is great. Doctors do not let a severe patience
know the truth about the patience’s health and use ‘White Lying’ that the
health would be better soon. This is because the truth that the patience would
not be cured can make the patience feel sense of despair and give up his own life.
This is actually helpful to patients who are suffering severe diseases, but do
not know about the truth of their health.
On top of that, telling the truth can break relationship
with someone who listened to the truth what I said. Of course, lying can break
belief and relationship, but telling the truth can also be able to damage to
the relationship between teller and listener. I had an experience which can be
a great example of this. When I was a freshmen student, I was extremely excited
to meet new friends. I met Suzy and Rachel at the university dance club and we
became best friends with the same interest for dance. Then one day, Suzy told
me that she thinks Rachel’s dance is not good. When I was asked from Rachel about
her dance, I told her the truth that I heard from Suzy. Eventually, Rachel was
disappointed Suzy and Suzy was disappointed me, so our friendship ended at that
time.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that we need to tell lie
sometimes because lying can be better helpful to encourage someone. Also,
telling the truth can damage to the people relationship.
