▶ Your Answer :
Some people think that the ecological
damage caused by humans is permanent. However, in my opinion, the environmental
state will improve as time passes. The basis for my position is that new rules
to protect the environment have been implemented by the government, and more
and more people are spontaneously making changes to their lifestyles that are
beneficial to the environment.
First of all, the condition of the
environment seems optimistic in the coming years because the government has
been actively promoting better public transit system, which can prevent climate
changes. The provision of better public transportation encourages people to
commute by bus or subway instead of using their own cars. Less usage of
individual cars is likely to reduce the emission of harmful gases that can
change weather patterns. For example, recently in the United States, Texas
suffered from a massive flooding, leading to property damage and thousands of deaths.
It was a rare phenomenon for a state known for its dry weather. Many experts
linked this event to the increase of CO2 mainly caused by driving cars. Their
argument is based on the fact that the number of cars has been increasing
tremendously. After this experience, Korea government acknowledges the need to
take more careful measures for limiting the amount of cars on roads. Now,
Korean government put large efforts into providing better public transit system
qualitatively as well as quantitatively. So, due to the government’s policy, the
environmental state in Korea will improve in the coming years.
On top of that, an increasing number of
people are voluntarily changing to more environmentally friendly lifestyles.
More and more people are acknowledging the need to protect the environment and realizing
that the small changes in their lifestyles can have a positive effect on the
environment. Therefore, they are taking action to reduce the amount of pollution
they create. For instance, A TV show in my country had an episode about environmentally
friendly lifestyles. After watching this show, my family members made several
changes. My father now uses less than the half the amount of water he used during
taking a shower. My mother brings a cloth bag when she goes to shopping in order
not to use a plastic bag and I buy used books or borrow books from libraries
instead of buying a new book so that I reduce the amount of paper I use. Many
other people in my neighborhood followed the TV show’s advice after they
watched it.
To sum up, both the government and the
individuals are putting their efforts on protecting the environment. In this
regard, I strongly believe that the condition of the environment will improve in
the coming years.
