▶ Your Answer : Computerized voting systems have been argumented in society. The reading states that computerized voting systems are more better than old voting systems which are using ballot. On the other hand, the lecturer is suspicious of the positive points about computerized voting systems expressed in the reading. First, the reading states that computerized voting systems have an easy to use touch screen technology. In the old days, people accidentally vote for the wrong candidate. So, voters can even have the computer magnify the name for easier viewing through them. However, the lecturer said people who are not skilled at computers will have trouble. Some people who have difficulty in using computers may not vote. Second, computerized voting systems have no possibility of human error because vote counting is done quickly and automatically by the computer. Old voting systems rely heavily on people to count the votes. It can make mistakes as well. But, the lecturer said human also can make mistakes by programing the systems. Finally, governments and individuals trust other complex computer technology to be perfectly accurate in backing transactions and communication. In contrast, these systems are used daily and they are used heavily. This is hardly sufficient for us to develop confidence that computerized voting systems can be fully trusted.
