▶ Your Answer :
It is often true that the job of the
government is to construct good infrastructure for its people. Some people believe
that government should spend more money on improving roads and highways for
individual vehicles like cars and trucks. With more roads and highways, there would
definitely be less traffic. However, I believe that governments should spend
more money on improving public transportation since its benefits outweigh
benefits of building new roads and highways in long term.
First and foremost, by spending more money
on improving public transportation, governments can help each individual saves his
or her money on transportation. By increasing public transportation such as buses,
trains, and subways, the government can make the public transportation more
assessible to the general public. For example, when the city government decided
to increase the number of trains in Subway no.9 in Seoul, I started using the
subway instead of my own car. Going to school by my car costed me a lot of
money. Money had to be spend on filling oils and paying for parking bills. However,
with the increased number of trains, I was also able to go to school in time by
getting on the train and eventually saved a lot of money. Thus, spending more
money on upgrading the public transportation would attract more people to use
them and help them save their expanses.
Next, improving the public transportation
would help the environment. The gases from cars and trucks are the main sources
of environmental issues such as air pollution that causes lots of detrimental
diseases in people. To illustrate, global warming would be reduced by improving
the harmless public transportation. Global warming is caused by dirty gases
from cars and trucks, which destroys the ozone layer. By alluring more people
to use the public transportation by improving its facilities, the government
can in fact reduce the global warming and hand our descents clean air. By
improving the public transportation, the government can save our environment.
In conclusion, since there are more benefits
with improved public transportation, the government should decide to spend more
money on developing the public transportation. With improved public transportation,
the government can make people and the environment happy. |
