Some people think that the news media is unbiased and accurate. However, I believe that people should monitor whether the news media is really objective reporting through different media. Thus, i disagree with this statement above following two subsequent reasons.
To begin with, the news media pursues its own profit. Most of major corporations own their media company. Thus, it might be possible that the media company portray their news in a way that is favorable to their own interests. To be specific, the coverage of the president Park impeachment demonstrated this biased trend. The news about upholding Park’s impeachment, a majority of the media in south Korea portrayed the news as a carefully way to attain democracy of the South Korea. Because there is a relationship between policy and the news media company. In the contrary, other countries mainly showed broadcasts of brutal scenes that depicted the news with suggestive pictures. This case shows that how news media company can broadcast the news differently depending on their profit.
In addition, the news media depict stories more dramatically than they actually are. It is true that suggestive pictures and stimulating stories attract people. Thus, they can obtain their profit by portraying the news with this kind of pictures and stories. For instance, it might be possible that they can broadcast their advertiser’s services in a dramatic way to attract their advertiser. Even though rival company’s product provide cost-effective services, they can exaggerate their advertiser’s service to earn their profit. Therefore, the news media is not a reliable.
To sum up, I strongly disagree with this opinion that the news media is a reliable source of unbiased information. The news media seeks its own profit. Also, they tends to exaggerate stories to get their advertiser’s attention. In this regard, we should pay attention whether the news is really fair information. |
