Humans are cooperative animals they tend to make a group and the one become a leader of a group and the others become a member of the group. It is debatable whether it is better to be a leader of a group. In my opinion, I personally think that being a leader is better for the following two subsequent reasons. When people play a role of a leader, it helps them cultivate important qualities such as responsibility. A leader establishes a gold of the group and encourages members to pursue it and ultimately take the consequences. It allows people to feel sense of responsibility. For example, Yonsei University found a huge difference between two groups of freshmen. One group consisted of those who had been a class president before they entered the college, and the other group was made up of those who never had been a leader before. The researchers found that the former group was more responsible in school life. In particular, the former group had leadership when they were doing team project and they tend to submit homework on time. This result reveals that experience of being a leader enables people to be responsible. Furthermore, being a leader in workplace leads people to work more diligently and passionately. A leader in office earns significantly more money than other employees. When their labors are rewarded with more money, they are likely to put more efforts into tasks. For example, when I worked for a restaurant I often felt lazy because the restaurant owner pay me the minimum wage. Fortunately, I could transfer to the other restaurant which gave a lot of money as a salary. After I got a higher salary, I started to working more harder because I do not want the owner fire me. To be specific, I was polite to customer and cleaned the restaurant more frequently. If I had not receive the high salary, I would not work my tasks harder as to not be laid off In a nutshell, people can improve responsibility by playing a role of a leader and a higher salary as a leader encourages them to be diligent to their work. In this regard, I firmly believe that people more benefit from being a leader. |
