There are some people who might say that the understanding of the past is important to solving difficulties facing them now and in the future. However, I personally believe that people should know the history to be able to deal with obstacles in their lives.
To begin with, people won’t make the same mistakes. To explain, by learning the past, a person can be aware of the reasons why a lot of failures occurred. The understanding of reasons will cause people to try something in a different way. For example, due to mid-term exams from last semester, I studied all subjects by understanding concepts I learned from classes. Since I took many classes and there was too much to memorize, I didn’t thoroughly cram all the things into my head. Because I totally forgot what I had learned when I took exams, my mid-term scores were low. After then, for final exams, I tried hard to memorize as much as I could. As a result, I could get much higher grades.
On top of that, people can foresee the future. To be specific, history repeats itself. From similar events in the past, people can calculate possibilities of results briefly. For instance, in a study implemented in 2015 by the National Fashion Institute, researchers found out that there was a recurring cycle found in the fashion history. They said that many trendy styles and items in 2015 were also trendy 30 years ago. Also, they asserted that several items such as hair bands, vivid coloured clothes, wide pants would become popular in 2018, and it was exactly right. Last year, many people wore bright green t-shirts, hair bands with a variety of styles.
In conclusion, to stop making the same mistakes and foresee the future, people should comprehend the past. In this regard, apprehending the past is a great way to cope with problems people will face in the future. |
