Some people think that more possessions cannot make them happier. However, I disagree with the above. There are two reasons.
To begin with, in this materialistic society, money is regarded as one's power. If you have no money, you will be considered as a loser or simply ignored. We cannot deny that the pleasure of life is filled by having money to spare. I will take myself as example. When I was college's student, I spent tough time in doing part-time job after finishing my class because my parents didn't completely support my tuition. I was more independent to overcome this hardship. Thus, I should give up what I want to do for hobby like exercise in the fitness center owing to the limitation of money and time.
On top of that, frankly, the issue is actually like a double-edged sword. It is also true that it is difficult to manage all possessions people have. However, I believe the disadvantage of it overshadows the advantages concerning the fact that people are feeling more stable for their future. Let me take my friends as an instance. My friend used to have her own business. It was more and more prosperous. Nevertheless, her husband was addictive to a gamble and lost all money and properties that she earned. As a result, she got depressed and her kids could not study overseas anymore.
To sum up, people are more satisfied with adequate money by doing activities they want. Moreover, People have less pressure for their future. In this regard, I firmly hold that getting more possession is a essential determinant for happiness. |
