▶ Your Answer : It is debatable whether governments should spend more money on improving roads and highways than on improving transportation. It is an intriguing question because opinions concerning this issue can be different depending on people’s perspectives. However, in my opinion, I disagree with the statement that governments should spend more fundings on increasing the quality of roads and highways than on improving public transportation. Fist of all, it is better for governments to spend more funds on improving public transportation because it will contribute to overcoming the energy crisis. To be specific, increasing the quality of the public transportation is important, which as a result will decrease the use of fossil fuels. Facing today’s energy crisis, we need to utilize energy sources optimally in order to improve people’s standards of livings. All avenues need to be explored to decrease the use of fossil fuels and avoid wasting our scarce resources. For example, according to a study conducted by the Korean times, it revealed that Korea has decreased the use of fossil fuels by 20% in 2019. This is because the Korean government invested more money on making more subways and buses form 2018. As a result, people started to use public transportation more frequently than before and the Korean government was able to decrease the usage of fossil fuels. Thus, it is legitimate to say that it is beneficial for governments to spend much budgets on enhancing the quality of public transportation in order to decrease our dependency on natural resources. In addition, government should invest more money on increasing the quality of the public transportation because it makes our lives much more efficient and convenient. To be specific, improving the quality of the public transportation makes people to utilize public transportation more often and prevent traffic jams, which as a result allows people to expend less energy and save extra time. In today’s fast paced life, there is a necessity to effectively utilize time and lead easier lives. People can do better this by using transportation while commuting. For example, when I worked for company in Seoul city, I used to commute by my own car. This was so stressful because of traffic congestions. However, Seoul city invested much more budgets on making more bus lines from 2018 and I started to use bus while going to work. This gave me opportunities to decrease the average time of commuting about 20 minutes. Through this experience, I realized that making public transportation comfortable play a vital a role in improving a productive life for people. Therefore, it is better for governments to spend more fundings on upgrading public transportation. In conclusion, governments and people will benefit from enhancing public transportation because it has many advantages. It is my belief that my argument concerning this topic can be effectively and precisely delivered with reasons mentioned above. Never should we forget that this issue may have a huge impact on our future. |
